The work and gaze of Óscar Fernández Orengo are well known in Alcalá de Henares. Since 2007, ALCINE has been a privileged witness to his incredible series of portraits of the film world. First it was Spanish filmmakers (the great life series), then came the actors (everyday scenes), and later still, Philippine filmmakers. And for a second and third time, his greatest series, with exhibits on new directors from different generations.
In this commemorative year, we wanted to take a step further and employ not only his images, but also his experience. He will share this with other professional and amateur photographers who wish to progress in an enthralling and limitless genre; documentary portraiture, in which Óscar moves like a fish in water, capturing unique moments; personal portraits full of intensity and beauty.
Over two full days, Orengo will discuss the genre, take a look at some unavoidable points of reference, and explain how to set up a long-term photo project; how to choose the theme, the photographic material, and the process of searching, creating ties and proximity, illumination, composition, the viewpoint …
After portraying filmmakers for twenty years, the great photographer of our cinema will explain the keys to taking the perfect portrait.
