The fixed gaze

'The fixed gaze. Portraits of new filmmakers in our cinema'

By Óscar F. Orengo.

Sala Antonio López. Antiguo Hospital de Santa María la Rica. Calle de Santa María la Rica, 3.

From the 5th of November.

From Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00 h. Sundays from 11:00 to 14:00 h. Monday closed.

The exhibition, the third in a series of portraits of Spanish filmmakers by Óscar Fernández Orengo, is the culmination of an association that began in 2007 with Through My Eyes and continued a few years later with Filmmaker Portrayals. The foremost work of this photographer from San Sebastian, an ambitious project in which dozens of Spanish filmmakers were framed in the lens of his camera, is brought to a close with this large-scale exhibit; there are very few directors left who have not been captured by the angular viewpoint of an unparalleled photographer, who has created a fusion of photography and cinema, viewpoint and movement, in a single frame. His most recent work is on display here, fully in tune with the two earlier exhibits: intense portraits taken in environments familiar to the filmmakers; black and white panoramas taken with his inseparable Hasselblad x-pan.

For the first time at this ALCINE50, we will be able to see the three exhibits in the same building, the former hospital of Santa María la Rica, with the new exhibit being premiered here, which will then travel around the world as did his previous exhibitions on our filmmakers.
