The exhibition entitled, Marilyn Monroe: 50 shoots by Milton H. Greene, presents a selection of iconic images of the American actress Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) from 50 photo shoots taken by the legendary fashion and film photographer, Milton H. Greene (1922-1985) from New York. It has been produced by the H. Greene archives in conjunction with the Catalonian film archive, and provides a unique opportunity to discover the versatility of the actress and the person far from the spotlight in a range of environments: pauses in shoots, at the studio, private moments, and even photos of her wedding with the playwright Arthur Miller.
Milton H. Greene photographed Marilyn for the first time in 1953, and went on to become her friend and confidante, setting up the film production company Marilyn Monroe Productions with her. He had exceptional access to the actress, his aim being debunk the sex symbol stereotype.
The 50 shoots, taken in the golden years of the actress’s career, reveal a radiant and natural Marilyn, as well as a little-known turning point: when Marilyn started to control the two areas of her existence: her image and her life.
The photos in the exhibition have been printed on Innova fine art exhibition paper using a Canon Pro 4000/6000 pigment ink printer.
